Celeste River Hiking Trip

Discover the turquoise waters of one of the most beautiful places in Costa Rica with this wonderful hiking trip along the Celeste River in the Tenorio Volcano National Park.

Celeste River Hiking Trip

We will start with the pick-up at 7:30 am at your hotel and head towards the Tenorio Volcano National Park, located 1.5 hours from La Fortuna. The summit of the volcano reaches 2600 feet.

On the slopes, we will encounter the magnificent Celeste River, known for its intense blue color. Legend has it that this color originated from God cleaning his brushes after painting the sky.

We will trek along a 4-mile route through dense forests to reach the stunning Celeste Waterfall, ideal for taking photos.

Next, we will visit the Blue Lagoon, where the river forms a natural lagoon. Bathing is not allowed due to park regulations, but we will admire the view from the viewpoint.

At the end of the trail, we will find Los Teñideros, where we will learn about the natural phenomenon that gives the river its color. Following this, we will stop for lunch before returning to our hotels in La Fortuna around 4:30 pm.
