Explore the enchanting night scenery of the Costa Rican jungle through an exciting hike to a sanctuary dedicated to frogs. Enhance this experience with a delightful dinner beneath the stars.

Evening Trek at the Frog Sanctuary

The adventure begins with a pickup from your hotel in La Fortuna at 5 pm. We will embark on a 30-minute journey towards the community of La Tigra, where the Méndez family is eager to share their commitment to preserving part of their land for the rejuvenation of local flora and fauna.

As we enter a unique forest of reflective waters, a variety of nocturnal creatures will come into view, allowing us to witness the vibrant life forms of amphibians, insects, birds, and mammals that thrive in this diverse environment.

We will stroll along the edges of these lagoons until we reach the frog sanctuary, where we will have the chance to marvel at numerous frog species, including the remarkable glass frog and the striking red-eyed tree frog. Notably, we will encounter both the largest and smallest frogs found in Costa Rica: the bullfrog and the hammerhead frog.

Following our exploration of the nocturnal wildlife, we will conclude our hike with a savory dinner prepared in a traditional wood-fired oven, all while taking in the illuminated panorama of the San Carlos plain at night.

After bidding farewell to the Méndez family, we will transport you back to your accommodation in La Fortuna, arriving around 9 pm.
