Discover the nocturnal wonders of the Costa Rican jungle with a fabulous hiking trip to the frog sanctuary. You will also enjoy a delicious dinner under the moonlight.
Night Hike in Frog Sanctuary
After picking you up from your hotel in La Fortuna at 5 pm, we will start a 30-minute road trip to the town of La Tigra. There, the Méndez family will guide us in their efforts to promote the natural regeneration of plants and animals on part of their property.
We will then enter a forest of water mirrors, where we will observe the nocturnal life of the amphibians, insects, birds, and mammals that populate this ecosystem.
We will follow the shores of these lagoons until we reach the frog sanctuary, where we will admire various species, including the glass frog and the red-eyed frog, along with the largest and smallest frogs in Costa Rica: the bullfrog and the hammerhead frog.
After our encounter with the nocturnal wildlife, we will conclude our trek with a dinner cooked in a traditional wood oven while enjoying the view of the San Carlos plain lit up at night.
We will say goodbye to the Méndez family and return to your hotel in La Fortuna, arriving around 9 pm.
