Tour Details

We'll meet at the designated time at Via dei Mulini in Francavilla di Sicilia. The tour will commence with the exploration of the ancient Neolithic tombs in the Alcantara Valley, including a notable sepulchral tomb dating to the end of the Copper Age and the beginning of the Early Bronze Age, a rare example from the mature Castelluccian period.

Next, we will visit Castiglione di Sicilia, home to the Pietramarina hill. This location contains the only prehistoric evidence of sandstone among the lava flows, alongside ancient megaliths and stone-carved structures that provide insight into the area's distant history.

We will also observe the gorges of the Alcántara Valley, witnessing the river navigating through stratified lava walls and unique rock formations. Stories of ancient eruptions and sedimentation that shaped this landscape will be shared.

The tour will conclude with a dinner in the Castiglione di Sicilia countryside, featuring typical Sicilian products such as cured meats, cheeses, pickled vegetables, and sun-dried tomatoes, complemented with wine and water. The total duration of the visit is 4 hours, ending at the restaurant.
