On this stargazing experience at Roque de los Muchachos, we'll learn about the stars in the night sky over La Palma and enjoy a magical sunset.
Activity Details
We'll pick you up from the meeting point in La Palma that you select and travel to the highest part of the island. You will spot thousands of stars from Roque de Los Muchachos.
La Palma is one of the best places in Spain to go stargazing because its skies are protected by law. The tour will take us to the viewpoint in Roque de los Muchachos, at 2426 metres (7960 feet) high, which is home to the Roque de Los Muchachos Observatory (ORM), containing the largest infrared optical telescope in the world.
Upon arrival, we'll admire the sunset from the peak and enjoy a glass of wine from the island. After dark, we’ll move to a nearby viewpoint for a guided explanation of stars and constellations, using a laser and an 11-inch Celestron telescope. We will explore solar systems, star clusters, nebulae, and galaxies. If visible, we will also discuss the moon and other planets.
After this solar journey at Roque de los Muchachos, we will return to the initial pickup points after a total of 8 hours.
