Hiking Tour Around the Caldeirão Verde Levada

Description

On this hiking tour through the levadas of Madeira, we will explore the house of Queimadas, Pico das Pedras, and Caldeirão Verde, traversing forests, lakes, and waterfalls.

At the scheduled time, we will pick you up at your hotel in Funchal and travel to a location on the island of Madeira. We will begin at Pico das Pedras, following its levada, which dates back to the 19th century, until we reach a dense green laurel forest. After delving into the forest, we will cross Queimadas Park, admiring valleys, gorges, and waterfalls, and encounter the Queimadas house, typical of the old architecture in Santana.

The hike will be approximately 5 hours long, passing through four artificial tunnels, leading us to Caldeirão Verde, a lake featuring a 100-meter (328-foot) high waterfall where we will pause to take in the natural scenery. We will then retrace our steps back to the starting point. The entire excursion will last around 8 hours.
