Curral das Freiras, or the Nuns' Valley, is renowned for its stunning landscapes. This hiking route offers an opportunity to explore its natural beauty.
Nuns Valley Excursion
We will start by picking you up from your hotel in Funchal at the scheduled time, followed by a brief stop at the Picos dos Barcelos viewpoint for panoramic views of the city.
Next, we will head to Curral das Freiras, a village in the Nuns' Valley. This area gained its name after the nuns took refuge here in 1566 from pirates who attacked the convent of Funchal. The rugged peaks surrounding the village are striking.
Our route continues to the Eira do Serrado viewpoint, where we will remain for 30 minutes to admire the views of the Nuns Valley below, showcasing lush hills and charming whitewashed houses.
After taking in these views, we will return to Curral das Freiras for the minibus journey back to Funchal. The total duration of the experience is approximately 4 hours.
Meeting point
This activity provides pickup from hotels in the center of Funchal. For those in more remote areas or other parts of Madeira, pickup will occur at Rua 5 de Outubro, 78 at the designated time.
