Curral das Freiras, or the Nuns' Valley, is a notable destination in Madeira known for its striking natural landscapes.
Nuns Valley Excursion
We will pick you up from your hotel in Funchal at the specified time and proceed to the Picos dos Barcelos viewpoint for a brief stop to take in the panoramic views of the city.
Next, we will travel to Curral das Freiras, a small village in the Nuns' Valley. This area received its name after the nuns took refuge here in 1566 following a pirate attack on the Funchal convent. The surrounding rugged peaks enhance its beauty.
The journey continues to the Eira do Serrado viewpoint, where we will pause for 30 minutes to admire the sweeping views of the valley below, featuring lush hills and the picturesque whitewashed houses of Curral das Freiras.
Upon enjoying the views, we will return to Curral das Freiras and take a minibus back to Funchal. The total duration of the excursion will be approximately 4 hours.
