On this trip to Curral das Freiras, Valley of Nuns, you will discover one of the most beautiful environments of the island and enjoy a ride on the Madeira Toboggan.

Valley of the Nuns Tour + Wooden Basket Ride

You will be picked up at your hotel and travel towards Curral das Freiras, Valley of Nuns. The first stop is the parish of Monte, where a unique mode of transport, the wicker basket equipped with wheels, will be experienced. This method was used by the wealthy in the 19th century.

After the ride, the tour heads to Santo Antonio and passes through landscapes of eucalyptus, mimosa, and chestnut trees until reaching 1,100 meters (3,608 feet) above sea level. The next stop is the Eira do Serrado viewpoint at 1,200 meters, offering views of Funchal on clear days.

The exploration continues in the Valley of the Nuns, including a visit to the Nun's House, its church, and a Madeira liqueur tasting. The final stop will be at the Pico dos Barcelos viewpoint for panoramic views of Funchal.

After a total of 3 hours, you will return to your hotel.
