Charming villages, historic landmarks and spectacular natural landscapes: discover the breathtaking beauty of Ireland's west coast on this tour of Connemara and the Wild Atlantic Way from Galway.
Connemara & Wild Atlantic Way Tour
On the morning of the tour, we'll meet at the entrance to Kinlay Hostel in Galway and board a bus to commence our adventure on the Wild Atlantic Way. The journey west along Galway Bay will take us through picturesque towns including Barna, Furbo, Spiddal, and Inverin, characterized by thatched cottages and stone walls amidst mountains, rivers, and lakes.
We will visit Bothar na Scragoige, a hidden gem known for its stunning bog area, followed by a brief stop in the coastal town of Roundstone and nearby Dog's Bay Beach.
The next stop is Derrygimlagh Bog, historically significant in early 20th-century communications and aviation. Continuing along the Wild Atlantic Way, we will pass through Clifden, the capital of Connemara, and reach Sky Road, known for its remarkable ocean views.
For the next three hours, you can choose between a tour of Connemara National Park, an iconic site, or a visit to the exterior of Kylemore Abbey, commissioned by Mitchell Henry as a wedding gift for his wife.
After regrouping, we'll traverse the Twelve Bens and Maumturk mountains, the Inagh Valley, see the Connemara Giant, and visit the Quite Man Bridge before returning to Galway at 6:30 pm.
