Annecy is known as the “Venice of the Alps”. On this guided tour, you will explore this city and subsequently enjoy a panoramic tour of Geneva.
Itinerary
We will meet in the center of Geneva before taking the bus to Annecy in the French Alps.
We will embark on a guided walking tour of the city known for its canals, earning it the nickname the ‘Venice of the Alps.'
As we stroll through the medieval streets, we will uncover the city’s significant history, particularly its role during the counter-reformation. Annecy served as a stronghold for the Catholic Church against Calvin's influence from Geneva.
The 45-minute tour will highlight key locations, including the Château d'Annecy castle and the Island Palace. This citadel, located between two canals, functioned as a prison during the Renaissance and the Second World War.
After the tour, you will have 2 hours of free time to explore the historic quarter and dine at local restaurants (food not included).
Post-break, we will return to Switzerland for a panoramic tour of Geneva. From an air-conditioned bus, you will view major attractions including the United Nations, the flower clock, and the Jet d'Eau.
To conclude the day, we will enjoy a ride on the mini tourist train through Geneva's historic quarter.
