Medieval Genoa Tour

On this tour of medieval Genoa, we'll discover the essence of a city that has preserved its charm over the centuries. We'll explore the most authentic side of the city known as La Superba through its narrow alleyways, hidden squares, and historical monuments from the Middle Ages.

Tour Details

We'll meet at the designated time in front of the Tourist Information Office at the Old Port, where we'll begin this walking tour of medieval Genoa. The tour will start next to the Embriaci Tower, a symbol of the ancient Genovese nobility. From here, we'll visit Campopisano and the Church of Santa Maria di Castello, which exemplifies medieval architecture and beliefs.

Next, we'll proceed to the Church of San Donato, a small Romanesque church, and the Porta Soprana, part of the city's medieval defensive walls.

Lastly, we'll explore the Sant'Agostino Museum, including its triangular cloister, the adjacent church, and the remains of the mausoleum of Margaret of Brabant, crafted by the sculptor Giovanni Pisano.

This tour lasts a total of 2.5 hours and concludes at the museum's exit.
