Covadonga Day Trip

Staying in Gijón? Then you can't miss this day trip in a small group to Covadonga. You'll see the lakes, the Santa Cueva, the basilica and Cangas de Onis.

Description

We'll pick you up at Bohemia Street in Gijón. A minibus will accommodate no more than 8 people as we head to Covadonga.

We will first visit the wildest part of Covadonga. The vehicle will take us to Ercina Lake and the viewpoint of Entrelagos for views of the lakes of Covadonga.

Next, we will proceed to the Holy Cave of Covadonga, home of the "Santina" and King Pelayo. During our visit, we will learn about the traditions and the history of the Battle of Covadonga.

We will then visit the Basilica of Santa María la Real in Covadonga and explore its interior while learning about Covadonga's history and its famous battle.

Our day continues with a stop in Cangas de Onis, offering an hour for exploration or lunch. We'll regroup and conclude the day with a visit to the Roman bridge and the Santa Cruz chapel.

This excursion concludes with a return to Gijón approximately eight hours after departure.
