Gjirokastër Tour
At the indicated time, we'll meet at Sheshi Çerçiz Topulli Square to start this guided tour of Gjirokastër.
Following an introduction to the town, we'll walk through the cobblestone streets of the Old Bazaar quarter, where we will find the oldest houses and appreciate traditional architecture.
Next, we'll skirt the citadel of Gjirokastër, which served as a strategic enclave during the Ottoman era. After learning about its history, we'll cross the Zerzebili bridge to access the neighborhoods of Dunavant and Cfaka, where we will see the tekkes, buildings of the Islamic brotherhoods belonging to the Bektashi Order.
The last stop of the tour will be at the Ali Pasha Bridge, a remnant of the aqueduct built by Ali Pashe Tepelena in the 19th century to supply water to the castle. After 3 hours of exploring, we'll conclude the tour by returning to the meeting point.
