Gjirokastër Guided Exploration

Our journey begins at the designated time in the bustling Sheshi Çerçiz Topulli Square, conveniently situated in the heart of the city.

Following a brief introduction to this captivating town, we will meander through the historic streets of the Old Bazaar quarter. Here, we will encounter some of Gjirokastër's oldest residences, taking in the unique attributes of the region's traditional architecture.

Continuing our exploration, we will approach the citadel of Gjirokastër. It served as a significant stronghold during the Ottoman period. After delving into its storied past, we’ll cross the Zerzebili bridge to visit the charming neighborhoods of Dunavant and Cfaka. This area is known for its tekkes, structures associated with Islamic brotherhoods of the Bektashi Order.

Our tour will culminate at the historical Ali Pasha Bridge, a remarkable remnant of the aqueduct created by the Ottoman leader Ali Pashe Tepelena in the 19th century, designed to supply water to the Gjirokastër castle.

After an engaging 3-hour journey through Gjirokastër's rich heritage, we will conclude our guided exploration by returning to our original meeting place.
