Exploration of the Sets of 'The Quartet'
At the designated meeting point, we will gather at the Praça das Etnias in Gramado before embarking on our exploration of the film sets from 'The Quartet'. Throughout this adventure, we will visit sites that inspired this acclaimed film, which received a nomination for an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film in 1996.
Originally titled O Quatrilho, the narrative follows two Italian couples seeking a better future in Brazil. Set against the backdrop of 1910, the story is inspired by actual events, which we will delve into during our expedition.
Our journey will commence with a visit to the winery belonging to the Lazaretti family, situated on the outskirts of Gramado. Here, we will immerse ourselves in the charm of its sprawling vineyards and massive wooden barrels, while uncovering the rich history of this Italian estate.
Continuing on, we will traverse the picturesque regions of Campestre do Tigre and Tapera, where the characters of O Quatrilho once resided. As we appreciate the splendid scenery, we will also explore the history of Italian immigration in Rio Grande do Sul.
Additionally, we will pause at Grings Mill, a historic mill that processed wheat, corn, rye, and rice, which has a unique connection to The Quartet.
To culminate our tour, we'll visit the Ramm family home, where we will enjoy a delightful traditional lunch, savoring dishes reminiscent of Italian and German culinary influences. A treat for the senses!
Our journey will conclude at 7 pm, as we return to our initial meeting point.
