Day Trip to the Alpujarras

Nestled at the base of the Sierra Nevada, a remarkable landscape unfolds with a collection of historic white villages that embody an array of cultural traditions and breathtaking vistas. This excursion to the Alpujarra villages includes notable stops in Lanjarón, Pampaneira, Pórtugos, Trevélez, and Capileira, promising an unforgettable journey.

Details of the Day Trip

We will meet at our prearranged point at the designated time to kick off our exploration of Alpujarra granadina, a unique region where the Berber architectural style harmonizes with the lush green valleys of the Sierra Nevada's southern slopes.

The first stop will be the Tablate Bridge, a historical landmark that signifies the gateway to this intriguing area. Crossing this bridge feels like stepping into a bygone era, offering a genuine glimpse into the past.

As we venture towards Lanjarón, known for its renowned healing waters, we will reflect on the historical significance of the Reconquista. After passing through this village, we will delve deeper into the Alpujarra, arriving at the stunning Poqueira Ravine, where we will discover three treasures of the region: Pampaneira, Bubión, and Capileira.

Upon arriving in Pampaneira, we will take a tour of a local chocolate factory, uncover the intricacies of a handmade loom, and wander its charming cobbled streets. You'll also have leisure time to explore the village, check out local shops, and take in the magnificent views of the ravine. Noteworthy sites include the 16th-century Santa Cruz parish church, the historical washing areas, and the Federico García Lorca promenade.

Our journey will continue to Pórtugos, where we will stop at the Fuente Agria and the Fuente del Chorreón fountains. These fountains are famous for their striking ferruginous waters, creating a stunning natural display. Depending on your chosen tour option, we may proceed to Trevélez, recognized as the highest village in Alpujarra, where you will get the chance to sample some of the region’s signature delicacies.

Finally, we will reach Capileira, celebrated as one of the most picturesque villages in the area. Here, you will have ample time for a leisurely stroll, appreciate its traditional architectural style, enjoy breathtaking views of the Sierra Nevada, and grab a bite to eat.

After a full day of approximately 10 hours, we will return to Granada and conclude our experience back at the initial meeting place.
