Two Spanish Renaissance gems declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO await us on this excursion to Úbeda and Baeza from Granada. We'll see palaces and churches as we delve into the history of these cities.
Úbeda & Baeza Excursion
At 9 am, we'll meet at Plaza de las Descalzas where we'll board a bus to Baeza. The trip from Granada will take about an hour and a half.
Upon arrival in Baeza, you'll have 4 hours of free time to explore and have lunch in this World Heritage City. Notably, it is considered the capital of the Renaissance in Andalusia. Sites to visit include the Fountain of St Mary, Aliatares Tower, Cathedral, Jabalquinto Palace, Seminary of San Felipe Neri, and the old University of Baeza. You will also find a sculpture of the poet Antonio Machado, honoring his seven years in Baeza.
Next, we'll return to the bus and head to Úbeda. We will conduct a guided tour for an hour and a half through its historic center. Here, we'll see the exteriors of significant buildings such as the Holy Chapel of El Salvador, Basilica of Santa María de los Reales Alcázares, and the Vazquez de Molina Palace, also known as the Palace of the Chains. You will have an hour and a half of free time for lunch in this Renaissance villa.
We'll conclude the excursion between 4 and 5 pm, returning to the starting point in Granada.
