Explore one of Mumbai's most important temples. Elephanta Caves feature ancient stone terraces, statues, and wall carvings dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva.
Description
You will be picked up from your hotel in the morning and taken to the iconic Gateway of India. From there, board a tourist boat to the Elephanta Caves, a recognized World Heritage Site and one of Mumbai's key temples.
After a little over an hour of sailing, you'll arrive at Elephanta Island, home to a complex of seven caves. Here, amid the tranquility of Elephanta, explore the major temples dedicated to the Hindu sun god, Shiva.
The extensive carvings on the temple walls depict various stories from Shiva's life, with the central statue of the three-headed deity showcasing the god's three aspects: creator, protector, and destroyer.
After your visit, the tour concludes with drop-off at the pickup point, approximately 4 hours after initial pickup.
