Vezzeno Gorge Tour

At the selected time, we'll meet at the entrance of Gropparello Castle, the starting point of a nature trail that leads us to the Vezzeno Gorge, formed by a stream of the same name.

We'll walk along ancient patrol paths from the fortified walls of the castle to the cliff's base, where the Vezzeno stream flows. During the walk, the guide will explain the characteristics of this territory, featuring the dark mass of ophiolite, which influences the landscape's appearance.

In this wooded area, we'll find the Museo della Rosa Nascente (Museum of the Rising Rose), which hosts 17 rose gardens. Here, we'll learn about the connections between the local flora, including white privets, maritime pines, and imperial maples.

Afterward, we'll proceed to the Limonaia, home of the Sala dei Fossili (Fossil Room), displaying fossilized remains of animals and plants from the Upper Jurassic period.

Following an hour and a half of exploring nature, we'll conclude this guided tour of the Vezzeno Gorge and say goodbye to our guide.
