Charreada Rodeo Tour
At 10 am, we'll meet at the Campo Charro Jalisco cultural centre in Guadalajara. The experience of charrería or charreada, recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, begins here.
Accompanied by authentic charro horsemen, we'll visit the charreria museum to see traditional costumes, saddles, and metalwork characteristic of charreado. We will learn about the history of this activity in Mexico, its evolution, and the origin of the word "charro".
Following the museum tour, we'll explore the nine different events known as suertes, including reining, heeling, steer tailing, and the "pass of death", which involves jumping onto the back of an unbroken horse from another horse. Additionally, participants will try riding the horses.
We will also discuss the relationship between charros and their horses, engaging with a group of charros about their performances.
After learning about this tradition, we will toast with a tequila. The experience concludes at 2 pm back at the starting point.
