On this private day trip to the Corralejo tequila factory and the Plazuelas archaeological area, we will explore a route that combines history and cuisine, discovering the secrets of agave and visiting a site over 2000 years old.
Tequila Factory & Archaeological Site
At the scheduled time, we will pick you up from your hotel in Guanajuato and proceed to Pénjamo, home to the Corralejo factory . This tequila factory, established in the 18th century, is ready for your visit.
After a 1.5-hour journey, we will begin our guided tour of one of the most famous distilleries in Guanajuato. You will learn how agave is transformed into traditional Mexican tequila.
The tour covers all the essential phases of tequila production, from harvest to ageing, including ovens, mills, and fermentation. A tasting session will also be included.
Following the factory visit, you'll have time for lunch before we board the minibus and head south to the Plazuela archaeological zone. This site features well-preserved pyramids that played a significant role in Mesoamerica. We will explore the squares, temples, and palaces while explaining their historical relevance.
We will delve into the history of the Chupicuaro culture and the Toltecs , who were linked to these ruins.
After a 9-hour tour, we will return to your hotel.
