Guanajuato Walking Tour
At 10:30 am, we will meet at the steps of the Collegiate Basilica of Nuestra Señora de Guanajuato. The guided walking tour will commence from this neoclassical and Baroque temple in the World Heritage City.
We will first admire the Juárez Theater with its nine bronze Greek-inspired sculptures and view the façade of the Church of San Diego, which contains a former 17th-century Franciscan convent.
Next, we will visit the Monumento a la Paz, a peace monument by sculptor Jesús Contreras representing the end of the War of Independence, before encountering the main building of the University of Guanajuato and the old Government Palace.
Our route continues to the Callejón del Beso (Alley of the Kiss) to hear the story of Don Carlos and Carmen's forbidden love. We will then visit Plaza San Roque and the historical Alhóndiga de Granaditas.
Additionally, we will learn about the peculiar facts of the municipality while passing by the Museo Iconográfico del Quijote, Museo del Pueblo, and Museo Casa Diego Rivera, the birthplace of the artist. The tour will conclude at 1:30 pm.
