Travel back in time by learning about the history of Mexican Independence with this tour of the Guanajuato towns that were the scene of the insurrection: Dolores Hidalgo, Atotonilco and San Miguel de Allende.
Description
After picking you up from your hotel in Guanajuato at the indicated time, we'll set off on an exciting tour through the events of the Mexican Revolution that led to the country's independence.
We'll start by stopping to sample sweets at the Conservas Santa Rosa store. These sweets are traditionally made in the Guanajuato Mountain Range.
Next, we'll visit Dolores Hidalgo, where Father Miguel Hidalgo triggered the revolution with his Cry of Dolores in 1810. We will visit the church where the uprising occurred and discuss the movement's origins.
Subsequent stops include the city's old prison, the house museum of Hidalgo, and the mausoleum of singer José Alfredo Jiménez. We will also explore the handicraft and pottery stalls of this town before heading to Atotonilco.
In Atotonilco, we will enter the Sanctuary of Jesus Nazareno, a baroque church with historical murals. We will stop for lunch at your leisure and then proceed to San Miguel de Allende.
You will enjoy an hour of free time to explore San Miguel de Allende, the hometown of General Ignacio Allende. Finally, we will drop you off in central Guanajuato, near the Juarez Theater, arriving 8 hours after the initial pickup.

During weekends, Atotonilco may not be accessible due to spiritual retreats.From July 3-24, the José Alfredo Jiménez House Museum will be closed.
