Description
At the arranged time, a minibus will pick you up from your hotel in Guanajuato, setting off towards one of the most captivating Magical Towns in the region—Mineral de Pozos.
After approximately 2 hours on the highway, we will reach our destination. Here, we will explore the Santa Brígida mine, renowned for its 18th-century silver-smelting ovens. It is interesting to note that these ovens were constructed by the Jesuit order.
We will then uncover the rich underground history of Mineral de Pozos as we venture into the Cinco Señores mines. This site features ancient tunnels and the remains of an opulent colonial estate that once stood beside a gold and silver farm. Numerous similar structures can be found throughout the town.
Continuing our journey, we will investigate the mining and agricultural heritage of Mineral de Pozos at the renowned El Triángulo estate. This estate is notable for being previously owned by the Mexican president Porfirio Díaz and is famous for its exquisite cactus garden.
Close to the town's historical center, we will visit the old Mineral de Pozos school, which was once considered one of the top educational institutions in the state. The building now hosts an exhibition dedicated to the town's past, as well as a collection of contemporary Mexican art.
Participants will also have time to enjoy a meal before we conclude our 9-hour journey, returning to the hotels in Guanajuato.
