Belmonte Guided Tour

Description

At the scheduled time, we'll meet at Luís de Camões Square to begin our journey to Belmonte.

After approximately 30 minutes, we'll arrive at our destination and begin to notice the medieval vibe of the streets of this Portuguese town, which was home to a large Jewish community. We'll make our way to the first stop, the Centum Cellas Tower, which holds years of myths and legends of the town's origin.

Afterwards, we'll visit the Museum of Discoveries, which has an interactive room that explains how Portugal came to be as we know it today. After a short visit, we'll proceed to the Olive Oil Museum, where we'll learn about its importance in the region.

Next, we'll pass by Belmonte Castle and then reach the Zêzere Ecomuseum, which traces the history of the Zêzere River.

Lastly, we'll visit the Santiago Church and the Cabrais Pantheon, which are part of a National Monument. The blend of Gothic and Romanesque architecture is notable.

We will conclude the tour after 3 to 4 hours back at the point where we started in Guarda.
