On this coffee tour of Guatapé, we'll visit a coffee farm to discover the secrets of one of Colombia's most famous products. We'll learn about the growing, collection, and drying processes.
Description
At your chosen time, we'll meet on Calle 32 #28-29 in Guatapé. We'll then travel to the coffee farm in Vereda Bonilla, about 20 minutes away by tuk-tuk.
Upon arrival, our local farmer will explain how the coffee beans are grown. The seeds are specifically selected, and their germination is monitored daily through proper irrigation techniques.
The next step is the collection of the coffee beans, which initially appear reddish. These beans are stored in sacks and transported to the pressing plant, where they are ground before proceeding to the drying area.
Throughout the process, we'll learn interesting facts about Colombian coffee, known as one of the most exported products in South America. The annual export figures are likely to amaze you!
We will conclude our visit by tasting some local coffee, noting its complex aromas, colours, and taste.
After 1.5 hours, we'll return to the meeting point in Guatapé.
