During this Guatapé coffee tour, you will have the chance to visit a local coffee farm and uncover the intricacies behind one of Colombia's signature products. Join us to learn about the essential processes involved in growing, harvesting, and drying coffee.

Description

We will begin our journey at the designated meeting spot on Calle 32 #28-29 in Guatapé at your selected time. From there, we will travel to the coffee farm located in the Vereda Bonilla neighborhood, a brief 20-minute tuk-tuk ride away.

Upon our arrival, a local farmer will be there to guide us, demonstrating the cultivation process of coffee beans. You will witness the careful selection of seeds, which is just the beginning of a meticulous daily routine. Proper irrigation techniques are vital to ensure effective germination.

The next part of our experience will be the harvesting of coffee beans, which initially sport a reddish hue. These harvested beans are placed into sacks before being transported to the pressing facility. Here, we will observe the grinding process that precedes moving them to the drying section.

Along the way, we will share fascinating insights about Colombian coffee, recognized as one of South America's major exports. You might be surprised to discover the volume of coffee shipped to international markets each year!

We’ll conclude our visit to the farm with a tasting of exquisite local coffee. Take note of the rich aromas, vibrant colors, and unique flavors, all contributing to an exceptional product.

After spending approximately 1.5 hours together, we will return to our starting point in Guatapé.
