Cajas National Park Hiking Activity
Good morning! We'll pick you up at 6:30 am from your hotel in Guayaquil and travel to Cajas National Park in the Andes Mountains. Upon arrival, we will start our 4-hour hiking activity.
We will hike the García Moreno trail to observe the divided waters, with some flowing towards the Amazon and others to the Pacific Ocean. It is known that many hikers have attempted to stay overnight but did not survive the cold nights.
Next, we will ascend to an altitude of over 6,560 feet (2,000 metres) while enjoying the misty forests, moorlands, and the Chorro de Plata Waterfall, which features nearly 300 feet (90 metres) of cascading water. We will also identify various medicinal plants and discuss their healing properties.
On our hiking route, we will see ferns, orchids, mosses, and potentially spot caracaras, hummingbirds, toucans, and the Andean condor. After walking approximately 6 miles (10 kilometres), we will return to the starting point.
We will then head back to your hotel in Guayaquil, with an expected drop-off at 2:30 pm.
