Chimborazo Volcano Day Excursion with Lunch

Your adventure begins with a pickup from Avenida Isidro Ayora Cueva, followed by a 4.5-hour ride in a minibus towards the imposing Chimborazo Volcano. The journey from Guayaquil promises to be a memorable one!

Reaching a height of 6,263 meters (20,548 feet), Chimborazo is not just Ecuador's tallest mountain but also a showcase of breathtaking nature. The snow-capped summit and diverse wildlife make this volcano one of the country’s top natural destinations.

Upon arrival at the first refuge, we will commence our hike up the volcano. As we ascend, you will encounter llamas, alpacas, and vicuñas up close. The terrain will gradually shift, revealing drier, snow-filled landscapes as we gain elevation. Our trek will lead us to the second refuge, where you can take the opportunity to capture photographs and immerse yourself in this extraordinary environment.

After descending from Chimborazo, we will proceed to the adjacent Colta Lagoon, surrounded by picturesque Andean beauty. While we wander through this area, we will discuss the Indigenous gatherings that occur by the lagoon. Our next stop will be at Balbanera Church, the oldest Catholic church in Ecuador, where you can admire its historic interior!

Following our explorations, we will pause for a traditional lunch, where you can indulge in Ecuadorian delicacies such as hornado de chancho (roast pork) and llapingachos (potato patties). A true delight!

After enjoying lunch, we will return you to your accommodation in Guayaquil.
