Guimarães Tour + Wine Tasting

Palaces, castles and monumental churches all feature on this guided tour of Guimarães, which also includes a tasting of Vinho Verde (green wine) from the north of Portugal.

Tour Details

The guided tour of Guimarães will start outside the Palace of the Dukes of Braganza. We will walk towards Guimarães Castle, discussing its founding in the 10th century and its significance in Portuguese history. We will explore the castle's walls and reach the highest point for views of the area.

Following the castle visit, we will return to the Palace of the Dukes of Braganza, where we will learn about the House of Braganza's influence on Guimarães and Portugal, while touring the rooms with original furniture and tapestries.

We will then stroll through the historical centre, navigating narrow streets filled with traditional houses and cafés. Our next stop will be a winery in the centre, where we will have a tasting of Portugal's Vinho Verde.

This tour will conclude at Largo República de Brasil, lasting a total of 3.5 hours.
