Tour Details

At the time indicated, we'll start this guided tour of Guimarães outside the Palace of the Dukes of Braganza.

From here, we'll walk towards Guimarães Castle, where we will explore its medieval past, discussing its founding in the 10th century and its historical significance in the creation of the Portuguese kingdom. We'll reach its highest point for views of the area.

After the castle, we'll return to the Palace of the Dukes of Braganza, a site of historical significance, and explore its rooms featuring original furniture and tapestries while discussing the role of the House of Braganza in local history.

Next, we will walk through the historical centre, navigating narrow streets filled with squares, traditional houses, and cafés. We will visit a winery in the centre for a tasting of Portugal's Vinho Verde wine.

The tour will conclude at Largo República de Brasil after a total duration of 3.5 hours.
