Description

Day 1: El Djem – Matmata – Douz

At the specified time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Hammamet and travel to the El Djem amphitheater, the third-largest amphitheater in the world, which could hold up to 30,000 spectators for gladiator fights.

After hearing ancient gladiator stories, we'll visit the Matmata cave-houses in the Amazigh area, where you'll have approximately one hour of free time for lunch at a local restaurant (not included).

The tour will proceed into the Douz desert, the gateway to the Sahara. You'll have the opportunity to try a quad bike or camel ride for an additional fee.

After the desert adventure, we'll stay at a hotel in Douz for the night.

Day 2: Douz – Chott Djerid – Oasis - Kairouan

After breakfast (not included), we'll visit Chott El Djerid, Tunisia's great salt lake, which stretches for 250 kilometers (155 miles).

Next, we will head to the Atlas range to see the mountain oasis of Chebika and Tamerza. The final stop will be Kairouan, Islam's fourth holy city. We'll visit the Great Mosque to learn about its significance in Islam.

The tour concludes with a return to your hotel in Hammamet.

Important Information

Tickets for museums and monuments must be purchased at the ticket office, costing about 15EUR total.The camel ride lasts one hour and costs 15EUR per person; the quad ride lasts 45 minutes and costs 25EUR per person.
