Havana Cannon Firing Ceremony
We'll pick you up from your hotel at the indicated time and head to the San Carlos de la Cabaña Fortress, known locally as La Cabaña, where the cannon firing ceremony takes place.
The cannon blasting ceremony is a tradition dating back to the colonial era. Every evening at 9 pm, a cannon is fired to inform residents of the nightly closure of the gates in the city wall. This ritual began in 1774 to announce the closing of the city gates during pirate threats, originally from a ship in the harbor before moving to the fortress. Views from this location are notable.
Although pirate attacks are no longer a threat, the cannon blasting ceremony continues, with guards in historic uniforms reflecting the 18th century. After the ceremony, we return to your hotel in Havana, arriving 4 hours later.
