Do you know about the Yoruba religion and santería? Delve into the deepest secrets of this religion with this tour of Havana.

Yoruba Religion Tour

At 10 am, our journey into the Yoruba religion begins as we gather at Central Plaza. From there, we will walk to the Casa de Africa Museum.

During the 15-minute walk, we will explore iconic Obispo Street, which is lively and active in Havana. Keep an eye out for santeros (Yoruba priests) in their first year of initiation, dressed in traditional white attire.

Upon reaching the museum, you will learn about the profound secrets of the Yoruba religion, originating in West Africa and brought to Cuba during the colonial period by enslaved individuals. Santería may sound familiar.

We will then take a brief drive to Hamel Alley, the heart of Afro-Cuban culture in the city. Here, you can enjoy typical music and admire the vibrant murals. You will also have free time to explore this area independently.

Continuing our journey, we will visit the home of a santera, where the priestess will explain various rituals of the Yoruba religion. You are welcome to inquire about your future if interested.

Our guided tour concludes around 2 pm as we return to the starting point.
