Volcanoes National Park Hike
If you're on the Island of Hawaii, a hike around the Volcanoes National Park is essential. We'll meet at the specified time at K?lauea Visitor Center to begin this hike.
We will start by descending into the Halema?uma?u Crater of the K?lauea Volcano, witnessing the remnants of an active volcano, including steam vents and sulphur banks within the first mile.
Continuing, we will traverse a rainforest filled with tree ferns, ohia trees, and honeycreeper birds. The vibrant flora showcases adaptations for survival in the volcanic crater's unique environment.
Upon reaching the bottom of the K?lauea crater, we will view the K?lauea lava lake, a pool of molten lava. We will take time to appreciate this remarkable feature before continuing our hike.
We will conclude our hike at a vantage point with views of the K?lauea crater and distant Mauna Loa. If conditions allow, we may witness a K?lauea eruption.
After 3 hours of hiking around Volcanoes National Park, we will return to our starting point.
