3-Day Tour of Crete

On this 3-day tour of Crete from Heraklion, we'll discover places such as the Arkadi Monastery and the cities of Vatos & Zaros.

Tour Description

Day 1: Heraklion - Gortyna - Festo - Matala - Zaros

Pick up will be in front of Hari’s Creperiê to depart Heraklion for Gortyna, the ancient Roman capital of Crete, known for its archaeological remains. After Gortyna, we will visit the archaeological site of Festo, a significant Minoan civilization site. The next stop will be Matala, where you will have free time for swimming and lunch on your own, followed by a visit to the village of Zaros. You'll have free time to explore and enjoy a typical Cretan dinner with a show in the evening.

Day 2: Zaros - Vatos - Spili - Lampini - St. Antonio's Gorge - Rethymno

After breakfast, we will visit Vatos, known for its preserved cultural essence, where we will see the old school and a museum of farming tools. Next, Spili awaits us with its Venetian fountain, followed by lunch. We will then visit Lampini to see the church of Panagia. A walk through St. Antonio's Gorge will follow, before arriving at the hotel in Rethymno where the afternoon is free.

Day 3: Rethymno - Margarites - Arkadi Monastery - Heraklion

After breakfast, leave at 9:30 am for Margarites, known for its pottery. Next, we will visit the Arkadi Monastery, symbolic of Cretan freedom. Before returning to Heraklion, we will tour the old town of Rethymno and visit the Venetian fortress of Fortezza. The tour concludes at 6 pm at the original departure point in Heraklion.

If the hotel in Zaros is unavailable, the first night will be spent in Heraklion at Marin Hotel or similar.
