For those interested in uncovering the rich history of Crete and immersing themselves in its Minoan heritage, this guided exploration of the Heraklion Archaeological Museum offers a compelling experience.
Tour Overview
We will convene at the designated time outside of Hari’s Creperiê. Once the group has gathered, we will proceed to the Heraklion Archaeological Museum to commence our guided journey.
This museum boasts the most extensive collection of Minoan artistry worldwide. Visitors can admire rare artifacts dating as far back as 6000 BC and a variety of relics that illustrate the island's evolution from its Neolithic origins to Roman times, securing its reputation as one of Europe’s premier museums.
The museum is comprised of 27 distinct galleries, highlighting the Minoan collection, Minoan frescoes, and the historical era. Throughout the tour, we will explore the island's most ancient relics, from everyday tools of the millennia to instruments of warfare.
Additionally, we will encounter renowned artifacts, including the figurines of the Minoan snake goddess, a replicated fresco titled Prince of the Lilies, and a Minoan gold ring depicting a ceremonial scene. Minoan pottery featuring vibrant illustrations of birds and fish will also be on display.
After two hours of delving into Crete's incredible past, we will conclude our experience back at our meeting point.
