Heraklion Food Tour

Cheese, olive oil, coffee, wine, and other food await on our Heraklion Food Tour. We'll explore this Cretan city and sample its traditional dishes.

Heraklion Food Tour

At the scheduled time, we'll meet by the Statue of the Unknown Soldier in Eleftherias Square. After everyone arrives, we'll begin our food tour of Heraklion and discover Crete's culinary scene.

During our walk through the historic center, we'll make a total of 8 stops to taste traditional products and learn about their preparation. We will discuss the distinctions of Cretan gastronomy compared to other Mediterranean diets.

We will start by sipping on a Greek coffee and explore its significance in the country, including an introduction to "cup-reading" to interpret the coffee grounds. Additionally, we will taste a bougatsa cake from Heraklion.

The tour continues to a local market where we will sample olives, cheese, biscuits, and Cretan olive oil. We will engage with bakers, fishmongers, butchers, and cheesemongers who will share insights about Cretan cuisine.

Organic meats, fried snails, and Cretan wines will also be included in our tasting experience.

After 4 hours of exploration and tasting, our food tour will conclude back at the starting point.
