Cheese, olive oil, coffee, wine and other delicious items await on our Heraklion Food Tour. We will explore the traditional dishes of this Cretan city.

Heraklion Food Tour

We will meet at the Statue of the Unknown Soldier in Eleftherias Square at the scheduled time. After gathering, we will commence our food tour and begin to discover Crete's culinary scene.

During our walk through Heraklion's historic centre, we will make 8 stops to taste traditional products and learn about their preparation. We will discuss the characteristics that set Cretan gastronomy apart from other Mediterranean diets as we pass through the main neighbourhoods.

We will start with a Greek coffee and discuss its significance in the country. We will also learn about "cup-reading" and how to reveal the future in the coffee grounds. Additionally, we will sample a bougatsa cake from Heraklion.

Next, we will visit a local market to taste olives, cheese, biscuits, and Cretan olive oil. Throughout the tour, we will engage with bakers, fishmongers, butchers, cheesemongers, and others who will share insights into Cretan cuisine.

Organic meats, fried snails, and Cretan wines will also be included in our journey. After 4 hours of exploration and tasting, the tour will conclude back at the starting point.
