Cheese, olive oil, coffee, wine, and various traditional dishes await on our Heraklion Food Tour. We will explore the Cretan culinary scene together.

Heraklion Food Tour

At the scheduled time, we will meet by the Statue of the Unknown Soldier in Eleftherias Square. We will then commence our food tour of Heraklion.

As we walk through the historic centre of Heraklion, we will make a total of 8 stops to taste traditional products and learn about their production. We will discuss what differentiates Cretan gastronomy from other Mediterranean diets.

The tour will begin with Greek coffee, highlighting its cultural significance. We will also try a bougatsa cake from Heraklion and learn about "cup-reading" to interpret coffee grounds.

We will visit a local market where we will sample olives, cheese, biscuits, and Cretan olive oil. We will interact with bakers, fishmongers, butchers, and cheesemongers who will share insights into Cretan cuisine.

In addition, organic meats, fried snails, and Cretan wines will be part of our gastronomic experience. After 4 hours of exploration, the tour will conclude back at the starting point.
