Guided Tour of Argüeso
Join us at the Cantabrian settlement of Argüeso at your convenience for an exceptional guided exploration of this open-air museum. This journey will transport you back in time, allowing you to uncover the architecture and traditions of the Iron Age.
Venture inside this fortified site, encircled by walls crafted from stone and wood, which features seven huts that reflect the lifestyle from the 7th to the 1st centuries BC. Each dwelling is a faithful replica of the ancient fortified sites of Barones, La Ulaña, Cildá, and Monte Bernorio.
Throughout the tour, we will examine the construction materials of these homes and view precise replicas of artifacts such as falcatas swords, daggers, helmets, shields, and belts typical of that era. Among the huts, one showcases more refined pottery, influenced by Celtiberian culture. Did you know that it took at least eight Roman legions to conquer the Cantabrian tribes?
Additionally, you will be able to admire a replica of the Zurita stele, a remarkable indigenous artifact that has sparked numerous theories. For a deeper understanding of these ideas, be sure to engage with the guide’s insights.
