La Pintada Archeological Site Hiking Tour

We will pick you up from your hotel in Hermosillo and travel to the archaeological site of La Pintada, where we will start a captivating hiking route.

After arriving in about an hour, we will embark on a hike between 2.5 and 3.7 miles (4 to 6 kilometers) long to explore the site. La Pintada, located in a desert plain in Sonora, showcases vestiges dating from 700 AD to 1500 AD.

Inside the caves, you will see countless cave paintings, which include over 2,000 works reflecting the perspectives of different ethnic groups. We will discuss the sacred rituals practiced in these sites and how the caves were places of shelter for the Seri and Yaqui indigenous peoples during the arrival of Spanish colonists.

During our exploration, we will encounter various plant species such as ocotillo, palo fierro (ironwood), mesquite, and gobernadora (greasewood). After completing our hike through La Pintada, we will enjoy a delicious lunch featuring grilled meat.

We will then return to Hermosillo, arriving approximately 10 hours later.
