PADI Open Water Diving Course

Day 1: Theory & practice in confined waters

Pickup is at 8:30 am at your hotel in Punta Cana to take you to the diving center for basic theory on diving techniques. You'll learn about assembling the equipment, underwater navigation, oxygen tank use, clearing the mask, and tips for underwater communication. Then, you'll practice these skills in a confined water area.

Days 2 & 3: Open water dives

Over the next two days, you will complete a total of four open water dives, testing your ability to move freely with a wetsuit. Explore the seabed of Punta Cana, searching for starfish, hawksbill sea turtles, seahorses, and tropical fish, while swimming near coral reefs. At the end of the course, you will receive a PADI Open Water certificate.

Duration

The course lasts three days with five and a half hours of lessons each day. Alternatively, the course can be extended to four days with four hours of lessons per day.

Important

After your last dive, wait at least 24 hours before flying or visiting high-altitude areas.

Option with hotel pickup: Select this option when reserving for pickup each day from hotels in Punta Cana and Bávaro.Option without hotel pickup: If chosen, you will meet at Grand Bay of the Sea, Cabeza de Toro Road, Punta Cana.
