Santo Domingo Day Trip

Pass through the Santo Domingo colonial area on this tour, where you'll discover the legacy of the Columbus family and the main monuments of the oldest city in America.

Day Trip Details

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Punta Cana and set off for Santo Domingo.

Firstly, we'll visit the Los Tres Ojos grotto to see the freshwater lakes and its cave. Then we'll see the outside of the Columbus Lighthouse, where the explorer's remains are said to be located.

Next, we'll make a stop outside the Presidential Palace. We'll observe the exterior of this neoclassical architectural ensemble before continuing to the historic center, Santo Domingo's Ciudad Colonial.

We'll enter the Cathedral Primada de America, the oldest on the continent, to uncover its secrets. Following this, we will stroll along the Calle de las Damas to see the first stone house built in the New World. Then, we'll explore the National Pantheon, where notable figures of the Dominican Republic are buried.

Next, we'll walk through the Plaza de España for a view of the Ozama River. The Alcázar de Colón, the Admiral's former residence, will also be on our itinerary. We will then have a buffet lunch of traditional dishes and non-alcoholic drinks in the historic center. After lunch, we'll enjoy a view of the Caribbean Sea from the Malecón.

Finally, we'll return to your hotel, arriving between 9 and 11.5 hours after pickup.

Tour with Aquarium Visit

With this option, we'll visit the National Aquarium of the Dominican Republic, located next to the Malecón in Santo Domingo. There, we'll see various marine species, notably sea turtles and the tunnel featuring sharks and manta rays.

After the aquarium visit, we'll return to your hotel in Santo Domingo.

Temporary Closures

The Alcazar de Colon will be closed on Mondays. We will take a panoramic tour of its exterior on that day. The Alcazar de Colon will be closed for remodeling until further notice, replaced by a tour of the Museum of the Royal Houses. Some museums may also be closed for maintenance on Mondays, and we will only view them from outside.
