Discover the different steps that make up the Sadou ritual with this Miyajima Japanese Tea Ceremony. You'll learn about the important steps in this tradition that reflects Japanese hospitality and lifestyle.

Miyajima Japanese Tea Ceremony

We'll meet at the Okeiko Japan Academy in Miyajima, located in an ancient Zen temple, to explore a traditional tea ceremony.

Known as sadou, this ritual involves the preparation and presentation of matcha. There are several phases, from utensil preparation to tea preparation, the bows, and final tasting. We'll explain the important symbolism of each gesture and how every detail matters.

After observing the entire process, you'll prepare your own tea. Remember all the steps you have learned!

The activity will last 30 minutes.

Rent a Kimono

You can also rent a traditional Japanese kimono. We'll meet at the indicated time, and you'll have 30 minutes to choose your outfit and get ready. The tea ceremony will start afterwards and will finish 1 hour later.

Schedule

Depending on the selected option, the tour will be available at the following times:

Tour without kimono: at 10:30 am, 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm.Tour with kimono: at 10 am, 1 pm and 3 pm.
