The tour meets next to Lake Beluga and begins with a minibus ride to Homer Airport to board a plane. After a flight of one to one and a half hours, depending on bear location, we head into interior Alaska to the best sighting area, enjoying views of glaciers and volcanoes.

Upon landing, we will explore the area to search for bears. The Katmai National Park hosts the largest protected grizzly bear population in the world. Depending on their location, we may observe bears socializing in the forest or fishing for salmon. The guide will ensure optimal viewing and photo opportunities while prioritizing safety and respect for the animals.

After three hours of observation, we will return to the plane for the flight back to Homer.

Location

The activity location varies by season, following bear migration patterns. Approximate locations by date are:

May 15th - June 25th: Coast of Katmai National Park, Lake Clark National Park and Preserve shoreline.

June 26th - July 31st: Brooks Falls.

August 1st - 31st: Inside Katmai National Park or Lake Clark National Park and Preserve.
