On this tour, we'll learn about the whaling tradition of the fifth-largest island of the Azores. We'll visit the Whale Museum and several viewpoints - you'll be amazed by the spectacular views!
Faial Whaling Tradition Tour
At 9 am, we'll meet at Largo Dr. Manuel de Arriaga in Horta and depart by bus from the capital of Faial to the coast.
This tour focuses on the whaling tradition of the island, with stops at main lookout points previously used for spotting whales and dolphins, along the south coast up to the Capelhinos volcano.
We will visit the Lajinha, Morro de Castelo Branco, and Varadouro viewpoints for notable views. A picnic lunch will be provided, followed by a visit to historic whaling ship docking points.
The tour includes sightseeing of harbors, lighthouses, and other key sailing locations. We will conclude at the Whale Museum, featuring skeletons of large mammals and artifacts related to whaling tradition.
We will return to the starting point between 4 and 5 pm.
