Join us on this kayaking adventure from Hornopirén Bay to Deer Island, where we'll see native mammals called pudús and paddle through Patagonian landscapes.
Deer Island Kayak Tour
We'll meet at 8 am on the shores of Hornopirén Bay, where we'll explain how to handle the paddles and kayaks safely.
After this brief introduction, we'll set out on our 7-kilometer (4.3-mile) route of medium difficulty, enjoying the landscapes of Chilean Patagonia. We will continue paddling through Hornopirén Bay until we reach the Isla de los Ciervos (Deer Island), named for the large colony of pudús inhabiting the area, the smallest deer species in the world. Here, we will disembark to attempt to spot these animals.
During our stop on Deer Island, we will learn about its plant and wildlife and enjoy a small snack of a locally-made energy bar.
Finally, we will return to the kayaks to start the return trip, arriving back at the meeting point by 12 pm.
