Deer Island Kayak Tour
- 4 Stunden
Join us on this kayaking adventure from Hornopirén Bay to Deer Island, where we'll see native mammals called pudús and paddle through Patagonian landscapes.
Deer Island Kayak Tour
We'll meet at 8 am on the shores of Hornopirén Bay, where we'll explain how to handle the paddles and kayaks safely.
After this brief introduction, we'll set out on our trip to Deer Island. During the 7-kilometer (4.3-mile) route of medium difficulty, we'll enjoy the varied landscapes of Chilean Patagonia from a unique perspective.
We'll continue paddling through Hornopirén Bay until we reach the shores of Isla de los Ciervos (Deer Island). This little island gets its name from the large colony of pudús, a mammal native to the Andean territories, that lives here. We'll disembark on the island to try to spot these animals, considered the smallest deer species in the world.
We'll take advantage of the stop on Deer Island to learn more about its plant and wildlife. During this break, we'll also enjoy a small snack of a locally-made energy bar containing products from the area.
Finally, we'll return to the kayaks to start the return trip back to the meeting point, where we'll arrive at 12 pm.
