Hike Up the Hornopirén Volcano

After picking you up at 7:30 am at your hotel in Hornopirén, we'll set off towards the Hornopirén volcano trailhead, located 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) away from the town.

Once equipped with the necessary materials, we'll start the ascent to the Hornopirén volcano. The trekking route will take us about 6 hours, covering approximately 9.5 kilometers (5.9 miles) with medium-high difficulty. We will take several stops to enjoy the landscapes of Chilean Patagonia.

During the hike, we'll cross lush forests of alerce trees. Gradually, we will continue uphill, reaching an altitude of 1500 meters (4,920 feet), only 72 meters (230 feet) from the summit of the Hornopirén volcano.

At the top, we will take in the views of the Calbuco and Osorno volcanoes and the southern fjords. We will also learn about the Hornopirén peak, part of the Liquiñe-Ofqui fault, which means "snow oven".

We'll take a break at the top to replenish our energy with a snack bar, a piece of fruit, and a hydrating sports drink. After this, we'll start the descent to the trailhead and return to your hotel in Hornopirén, arriving at 3:30 pm.
