Hike Up the Hornopirén Volcano

After picking you up at 7:30 am at your hotel in Hornopirén, we'll travel to the Hornopirén volcano trailhead, located 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) from the town.

Once equipped with trekking poles and materials, we will start the ascent to the Hornopirén volcano. The trek will take approximately 6 hours over a distance of 9.5 kilometers (5.9 miles) with a medium-high level of difficulty. We will make several stops to enjoy the landscapes of Chilean Patagonia.

During the hike, we will cross lush alerce forests, typical of the Andean countryside. We will continue uphill until reaching 1500 meters (4,920 feet), only 72 meters (230 feet) from the summit of the Hornopirén volcano.

At the summit, we will have views of the Calbuco and Osorno volcanoes and the southern fjords. Additionally, we will learn about the Hornopirén peak, an Andean stratovolcano that means "snow oven".

We will take a break at the top to replenish with a snack bar, a piece of fruit, and a sports drink. After the break, we will descend back to the trailhead and return to your hotel in Hornopirén, arriving around 3:30 pm.
