Hike Up the Hornopirén Volcano

After picking you up at 7:30 am at your hotel in Hornopirén, we'll head towards the Hornopirén volcano trailhead, located 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) from the town.

Once equipped with poles and other materials, we'll begin the ascent to the Hornopirén volcano. The trekking route will take about 6 hours, covering approximately 9.5 kilometers (5.9 miles) with a medium-high level of difficulty. Numerous stops will be made to enjoy the breathtaking landscapes of Chilean Patagonia.

During the hike, we'll traverse lush forests of alerce trees. Gradually, we will ascend to an altitude of 1500 meters (4,920 feet), just 72 meters (230 feet) from the summit of the Hornopirén volcano.

We will enjoy views of the Calbuco and Osorno volcanoes and the southern fjords. Throughout the hike, we will share fascinating facts about the Hornopirén peak, which belongs to the Liquiñe-Ofqui fault and means "snow oven".

A break at the top will include a snack bar, a piece of fruit, and a hydrating sports drink. After this, we will descend back to the trailhead and return to your hotel in Hornopirén by 3:30 pm.
