Tortilla-Making Class
In this corn tortilla-making class, participants will learn about the importance of corn tortillas in Mexican cuisine and will have the opportunity to make them. The activity takes place in Huamantla, Tlaxcala, which translates to "place of the corn tortilla" in Quechua, highlighting the cultural and culinary significance of corn tortillas in the region.
Upon meeting at the designated time at hotel Las Candelas, participants will visit a location where the history of corn cultivation in the area will be explained, along with the origin of corn tortillas. Attendees will learn about up to 10 different varieties of organic corn cultivated locally, challenging the perception that there is only one type of corn on the cob.
After the presentation, a workshop will be conducted where participants will apply their knowledge to create their own corn tortillas. The experience will conclude with a tasting of local corn products.
This educational experience lasts for an hour and a half, after which participants will bid farewell.
