Experience the waterfalls and lagoons in Peru's most breathtaking landscapes in this excursion to the Nor Yauyos-Cochas Landscape Reserve.
Description
We'll meet at the designated time in Plaza Huamanmarca in Huancayo before boarding a minibus to an area of indescribable natural beauty. The early start will be worth it.
After about an hour on the road, we'll stop for breakfast and then discover the wild beauty of The Nor Yauyos-Cochas Landscape Reserve, which covers over 200,000 hectares (49,421 acres).
Our first stop, The Abra Negro Bueno or Negro Bueno Pass, offers views of the High Andean lagoons from a height of more than 4,600 metres (15,091 feet).
We will continue through the picturesque Villa de Tomás, learning local customs. After exploring the small village in the reserve, we'll visit the Cañón de Uchco, admiring its gorge and landscapes during a 10-minute walk.
We will then arrive at Huancaya, the birthplace of the lagoons and waterfalls of Nor Yauyos-Cochas. Here we'll explore colonial bridges and viewpoints for the best views of the reserve. After a 25-minute walk, we'll reach The Laguna Huallhua. You can book a boat ride across the lagoon to the Huallhua waterfalls.
Afterwards, we'll return to Huancaya for an hour-long break to try local cuisine. We will then return to Huancayo, concluding the tour after a total of 16 hours at the starting point.
