3-Day Tour of Tantamayo
Day 1: Huanuco - Kotosh - Tantamayo
The tour will commence at 9 am with hotel pickup in Huanuco, followed by a six-hour drive to Tantamayo. En route, we will visit the archaeological site of Kotosh, home to the temple of the Crossed Hands. We will then travel through the Marañon River valley and arrive in Tantamayo, where participants will have free time to explore the town and visit the 16th-century church.
Day 2: Tantamayo
An energizing breakfast will precede a visit to the archaeological center of Tantamayo. A 35-minute walk will take us to the Piruro sector, noted for its yarowilca constructions reaching 12 meters (40 feet). Next, we will visit the Selmin Granero sector before returning to the lodge for lunch. Afterward, we will hike for 40 minutes to the Susopillo sector, the highest point in Tantamayo, where we will explore the fortress and ancient ruins.
Day 3: Tantamayo - Corona del Inca - Huanuco
At 6 am, we will have breakfast and depart Tantamayo. The journey back to Huanuco will include views of villages like Chavin de Pariarca, Quivilla, Tingo Chico, and Ayapiteg. We will also view the Corona del Inca (Crown of the Inca). We will arrive back in Huanuco for hotel drop-off at 1 pm.
Lodging and meals
The tour includes two nights of accommodation in a double room with shared bathroom at a rural hostel in Tantamayo. Additionally, 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, and 2 dinners are included, featuring a variety of dishes and beverages.
