Central Andes 4 Day Tour
Day 1
Pickup from your hotel is at 4 am to drive to the high Andean region of Huanuco, passing the Huayhuash mountain range. After a 3-hour drive, breakfast will be in the colonial town of Jesús, established in 1572. Next, visit Lauricocha lake at 4000 meters and an Inca bridge leading to Qhapaq Ñan. Stop at Wagratacanán to explore the cave of Lauricocha Man, the oldest fossil remains in Peru, followed by a picnic lunch. Return to Jesús for dinner and overnight.
Day 2
Breakfast will precede a visit to the town of Jesús, including its main square and church. Next, visit the Chiquia archaeological complex of the Yarowillca culture. Proceed to Gongui and the Inca Baths for lunch. The tour continues to the Inca citadel of Huánuco Pampa, the capital of Chinchaysuyo, featuring palaces, temples, and an artificial lake. End the day in La Union with dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3
Post-breakfast, travel to Tantamayo via Pachas and Chavín de Pariarca. Explore the historical center and enjoy lunch. After, walk for 1 hour 30 minutes through the archaeological centre, observing yarowillcas constructions. Return for dinner and overnight.
Day 4
After breakfast, visit the archaeological site of Garu on Condor Waganan hill. Explore this 20-hectare complex with stone walls and chulpas. A 30-minute walk will follow before returning to Huanuco, stopping for lunch. Arrival in Huanuco is around 7 pm, concluding the tour.
