Garu and Corona del Inca Day Trip
Your adventure begins with a 6 am pickup from your lodging in Huánuco, setting the stage for our journey to Choras district.
Following a scenic three-hour ride, we will embark on a 2-kilometre trek over the Cóndor Waganan hill, leading us to the archaeological treasures of Garu, the former heart of the Yarowilca Empire. Nestled at an impressive altitude of 3700 metres, this expansive site spans around 50 acres. It stands as one of the premier archaeological locations within the Alto Marañón, featuring intricately constructed flagstone structures, pathways, stone towers, and burial grounds.
The complex is comprised of three distinct sections: Huaychao, Gantu, and Jucchu or Gayarina. Our exploration will take us along the sturdy stone walls and vantage points that separate these areas, while revealing the fascinating history and secrets that this enigmatic site harbors.
Upon concluding our exploration of the archaeological site, we will resume our journey toward the rugged terrain of the Corona del Inca hill.
As the excursion draws to a close, we will return to Huánuco and pause for a delightful lunch at a nearby local restaurant. Expect to arrive back at your accommodation by 5 pm.
