With this tour of the Huallaga Valley, you'll travel through the territory of the Chupacho tribe and discover its transformation over the centuries by visiting its main attractions.

Huallaga Valley Tour

At 8 am we'll pick you up at your hotel in Huanuco to head to the left bank of the Huallaga River, entering the Conchumayo River valley. This area was inhabited by the Chupachos tribe before Spanish colonization, during which the region's Christian churches were established.

We'll start the tour by visiting the church of the Holy Trinity, the first temple built by the conquistadors in 1541, located in Pachabamba. This church features a significant 17th-century painting of "Christ Crucified," a baptismal font from the 17th century, and other colonial relics like the "Holy Land Stone."

Next, we'll proceed to the 17th-century church of San Sebastian in Quera, where we will observe items such as furniture decorated with gold leaf and a pulpit adorned with images of Christian saints.

Our last stop will be at Puyhuan, which means "heart" in Quechua. This ancient natural monument is significant in local legends and serves as a venue for Andean rituals, including the ceremony of payment to the Earth.

Finally, we'll return to Huanuco and drop you off at your accommodation at 2 pm.
