Huánuco Pampa & La Unión Excursion
We'll pick you up at your hotel in Huanuco at 4 am and travel by minibus to the archaeological site of Huánuco Pampa.
The site, also called Wanuco Marka, houses numerous vestiges of an ancient Inca administrative center. During the tour, we'll admire the remains of a great citadel, with thick walls intended to protect the capital of Chinchaysuyo, one of the four main regions of the Inca empire.
The ancient city thrived between 1460 and 1536, with its expansion slowing after the arrival of the Spaniards. We can still see the remains of extensive rectangular enclosures called kallankas.
After visiting Huánuco Pampa, we head to the town of La Unión, where you'll have an hour free for lunch. Then, we'll go on a sightseeing tour of the city, including sites like the Puente Mariscal Caceres bridge and the thermal baths of Tauripampa.
From there, we'll return to Plaza de Armas in Huánuco, arriving at 7 pm.
